I tried so many over-the-counter stuff, and home remedies, and finally this year I went to see a dermatoligist. I was always hesitant to go because I heard so much about acutane and how you need to take birth control pills (which make me nuts) and how it dries out your eyes (and I wear contacts). Yeah, turns out, there are plenty of other options. I didn't have to take birth control pills, my eyes have plenty of water, and My skin has never been clearer, I wish I had gone years ago.
