Can you use a masque/pore strip over a barely there rash?

The rash is barely there, but I'm afraid I'll make it worse.Can you use a masque/pore strip over a barely there rash?
It depends on the rash but I wouldn't, I did once and it hurt.... Long story short I'll never do it again!
